Gomtang Mandu-guk

A 5-minute dumpling soup that rivals your favorite hangover soup spot

When you're craving something warm and comforting, a handful of frozen dumplings is all you need. Add them to a beef bone broth ramyeon, and the dumpling juices deepen the broth into a rich, satisfying soup.

Simple Yet Hearty Soup

Gomtang Mandu-guk

In Korea, there's a tradition of eating hot soup the morning after drinking, and this combination is especially well suited to that moment. Simmering frozen dumplings together in a beef bone broth ramyeon lets the savory juices from the dumpling filling blend into the broth, deepening its flavor even further. It feels richer and heartier than an ordinary bowl of ramyeon — more like a proper meal such as gukbap or mandu-guk. Another perk: all you need is a pack of dumplings from the convenience store's freezer section and a pack of Sari Gomtang ramyeon from the noodle aisle.

How to Make It

Pour hot water into the ramyeon, add the frozen dumplings, and microwave for 2 minutes.

Tip

Letting the dumplings thaw slightly, or poking a small hole in the dumpling skin, helps the broth soak in better.
